Deleting an Account

Sometimes you may need to delete an account. If the account has already been used in transactions, you will receive an error message alerting you that transactions have been found which reference the account you are trying to delete. In this case, you cannot simply delete the account, but must first transfer any account history to another account, in order to maintain the integrity of the system. If you are simply not using the account anymore, you may wish instead to inactivate the account by changing the account's "Status" field from "Active" to "Inactive".

1. When you first enter the Account option a Select An Account window will appear:

Scroll down the list of accounts to locate the account you would like to delete. You may select the account by double clicking or by highlighting the account and pressing Enter; the account will display.

2. Command options will appear:

Select Delete. The account is now deleted.

Note: The account will not be deleted if the account is used elsewhere in the system. "Cannot delete - associated records in *file name*!!! Space Bar to continue". Press space bar to return to the Select an Account window.

For more information on the Account option see Account.
